RE: weapons in a national park
They follow state law by whatever state they are in. Just watch the ones that have manned structures. You cannot carry in buildings that are staffed.[/b]

RE: weapons in a national park
You'll be able to tell the buildings that you can't carry in; they will be clearly marked. It is many of the staffed buildings, but not all of them.
For more details, you can check the website for the particular park. |

ALL staffed buildings are prohibited by federal law, as they are considered "federal facilities". Signage is supposed to be present in order for enforcement to apply, but I wouldn't count on that to save me, and I wouldn't stroll into a non-marked building under the illusion that it was legal for me to do so. I've seen time after time that when the government doesn't hold up their end, it's excused or overlooked, and would not be surprised one bit to see someone convicted for carrying in a building that had not been posted per the requirements of the law. I know for a fact that there are prohibited buildings in Gettysburg that do not have signage posted. |

RE: weapons in a national park
Yet there are buildings in some parks that have ' no firearms beyond this point' signs as well, which is why I suggest checking with the park itself; per the law they do have discretion on a park-by-park basis...the current situation is a cluster-f.....
The memo that went to the Rangers locally states the signs must be posted, and that they damn may well better have the signs up. At least you can legally carry up Route 209 from Stroudsburg to Milford now. |

I'm actually not disagreeing with Greg, by the way...
I checked with Gettysburg for verification of where you can and where you can't carry; it would be rather difficult to get a feel for the park without visiting these exhibits, but these are not all of the park building; just the forbidden ones: 36 CFR §2.4 – WEAPONS, TRAPS OR NETS (a)(1)(i) & (ii) Visitors may possess and carry firearms within Gettysburg NMP and Eisenhower NHS in accordance with federal, state, and local laws. Federal law prohibits firearms in certain park facilities and buildings. These places are marked with signs at public entrances. The federal facilities for Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site are as follows: Gettysburg: Butterfield House – 1000 Biglerville Road (Administration Office) Hoffman House – 380 Taneytown Road (Resource Planning Office) Hummelbaugh House – 40 Pleasanton Avenue National Cemetery Lodge – 791 Baltimore Pike Park Maintenance Facility – 405 Taneytown Road (Maintenance Office) Wright House - 160 Taneytown Road (Protection Office) Eisenhower: Eisenhower Home – 200 Millerstown Road Eisenhower Farm 1 Barn – 200 Millerstown Road Eisenhower Headquarters Building (Farm 2) – 250 Eisenhower Farm Lane Farm 2 Show Barn – 250 Eisenhower Farm Lane Reception Center – 200 Millerstown Road |

RE: weapons in a national park
are all buildings within natioanl park boundaries considered fed. property? i noticed the visitor's center was omitted, as well. is there some chance that it wouldn't fall under the park guidelines? i highly doubt it, but it might be worth investigating.
i'm assuming finding a bathroom you can use might be a pain. |
