OC while at work
I am just wanting clarification can my job tell me not to bring my weapon to work at all (I have no issues putting it in a safe while working). I have yet to talk to work just yet, but I am wanting some info before I do. Thanks in advanced.

RE: OC while at work
Depends, do they mean INTO your place of business or on the property in general? Also is there anything listed in your employee hand book that says you cannot possess a firearm at your place of employment? In short, yes they can tell you not to bring your gun to work. You do need to check your employee handbook and depending on your supervisors attitude, you MIGHT consider asking him/her.

RE: OC while at work
If you ask permission to bring a gun onto work property, it is a 99.99% guarantee that they will say no.
Like Steve said, check the handbook. Also, if there is a company intranet, look on there for info. If nothing is listed, carry away (knowing that if someone spots it, there *might* be an issue). If the policy is "no weapons on company property" then it is totally up to you. They have every right to determine what the policy is for their property. They own the land, they set the rules. You'll have to ask yourself "What's more important to me at this snapshot in time? Possible risk of crime or definite risk of job termination?" That's totally your decision to make. If the language is vague, then you may consider *quietly* asking around. Are people leaving guns in cars? Are they carrying? Maybe they are carrying in a briefcase or backpack? Ultimately, the safest thing to do is to NOT talk about guns at work unless you know 100% that the person in the discussion is pro-gun. NEVER let anyone know you carry. It's just a lot easier that way. *my two cents...take it for what it's worth. |

RE: OC while at work
Unless PA has passed a law in the last few years to allow you to lock your weapon in your car in a company parking lot. A company can tell you can’t lock your gun in your car in a company parking lot. Several states have passed such laws and PA was looking into a few years ago. I looked on the Internet but could not find any information.

I live in western Westmoreland county not far from Homestead. If you don’t have a permit for concealed carry, apply for one. Open carry is legal in PA, but once you get into your car it becomes concealed.

RE: OC while at work
The company that I work for has a policy against firearms and knives, so I carry a knife on my belt and a Keltec 380 in my pocket! Nobody said anything yet!!! The 380 is a secret though!!!

Open carry is legal in PA, but once you get into your car it becomes concealed. It's a License To Carry Firearms (LTCF). It allows you to carry concealed. It also allows you nearly unlimited transport possibilities. Transporting is NOT the same as concealing.
