New member from Montour, Columbia County Area with a holster guestion
Hello all. New member from Montour, Columbia County Area with a holster question. I am in need of a good OC holster for a Ruger SR9C. I’m currently using a cheap holster that I hate. I can find plenty online but would prefer a local shop so I can handle and inspect the holsters for fit and finish. If anyone knows of a place and would like to share it would be greatly appreciated..

RE: New member from Montour, Columbia County Area with a holster guestion
Welcome to the forum. I am not sure of a place, but I have an inside the waistband, tuckable(if you want to conceal as well) horsehide holster made by High Noon Holsters(http://www.highnoonholsters.com). I love it. A little pricey(150.00) but it performs so well, and is actually made to fit your gun like a glove. Blackhawk makes a holster called a SERPA, not sure if it is available for your weapon, but it offers a level 2 retainment system that I have seen police use and it is only around 50 bucks, or like 35 on e-bay. Hope this helps

RE: New member from Montour, Columbia County Area with a holster guestion
I currently carry the 686 in a Galco Silhouette. It has the thumb break that I wanted, so I know the gun isn't going anywhere no matter what I'm doing. I've been running, shoveling, crawling up into my attic, all sorts of weird stuff with it on and it hasn't gotten loose yet.
As far as anyone grabbing it, they would have to be on top of me and already have me in a bad spot for them to be able to effectively get it out. Both my wife and I have tried drawing while the other has worn the gun on the hip, and it's pretty difficult. It's possible, but I feel it's unlikely. Hell, my Dad carried a similar style holster on his belt all through his time as a police officer and never had the gun get loose during a scuffle nor was anyone successful in taking it out of his holster. A couple of people did try, but he felt it and took them down pretty quick. |

Find a local gun show and then you can see many different styles and brands and hopefully you find one that you like. I use a Galco FLETCH for my 686 and a Bianchi, not sure of the model, for my 1911. Both have a thumb break. shooter357 |
