Ok, so I have read about some positive encounters lately...particularly Bill's sparked this idea....
I was just wondering what you guys would think about my contacting John Latimer to see if he'd be interested in doing a story on some of the positive encounters OCers have had? People are bitching left and right about all the "negative PR" so I was thinking (whether you agree with them or not) that it might be nice to see an article or two focusing on the fact that OC really is accepted by plenty of people. It may not change the minds of the antis but it may get some people on the fence thinking and it may open up some minds. I mean, there are some out there who are of younger generations whose minds can still be molded one way or the other.....
Just a thought.....
Can we trust him or someone else to do such a tory and not give it a negative spin? And then would any papers run it? It sounds like a good idea if it can be made to work.

That is why I suggested John Latimer. He did a very fair report in all of his articles in the Lebanon Daily News. (BTW he walks his dog by my house all the time. He lives pretty close to me....) I should clarify that I am talking about encounters where someone has noticed and there has been a positive exchange as opposed to what I would consider "non-encounters" where you just go about your business and nothing happens as if you were concealing...as in, maybe someone noticed and maybe they didn't. Make sense? Like I said, I am thinking more about things like what happened to Bill at KFC or times we've been asked about our choice of carry and have taken the opportunity to educate etc.
THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA!!! 
Ok, I really do think this is a good idea.
If I ever have a positive encounter, (all non-events so far) I will be sure to let you know.

Hey everyone, I am here now! I clicked on the link a little while ago, but did not register because something came up, and time just got away from me. But Mikey gave me a gentle reminder.
I think it would be a good idea to try and get some positive coverage, and I am not adverse to talking to a reporter. I've done it once or twice in the past. :biggrin:

I'm glad to see that it did though.
I think it might be worthwhile to do hidden video (from you or another person not OCing). Then narrate and blog/post that. Or use it to try to then get other media interested. This will cover hundreds of hours possibly (to get a couple of good hours of useable stuff.) So the media might only follow you, if at all, for a couple of hours...to report nothing at all, positive or negative. Then there is the off chance you run into the one scenario of a lifetime where EVERYTHING goes wrong and that is what gets reported!
